We are not alone.
It’s been over a month since the launch of Wicked Sense. It seems like it was ages ago! The release month was a wonderful time. The novel performed modestly but well for a debut author in such a niche genre, and even reached Top 100 in one Amazon subcategory and a coveted #1 in another (yay!).
During this month, and in the weeks preceding it, I’ve worked hard to make sure that Wicked Sense wouldn’t fade into oblivion. However, all my efforts pale in comparison to what friends have done for the book. Writers, readers, bloggers, and everybody else helped the launch in so, so many ways! I want to thank them (you!).
My beloved critique group, The Writers in The Rain, has been there for me from day one. Thank you Suma Subramanian, Martina Elise Dalton, Brenda Beem, Eileen Riccio, and Angela Orlowski-Peart. You’ve touched my life-I hope you all are aware of that.
Extra thanks to Martina for having designed a stunning cover. Everybody compliments the cover.
My rock-star editors, Alyssa Linn Palmer and Amanda Shofner, made the novel sharp and professional. Thanks for making me look good.
Speaking of looking good, thanks to Emerald England, the artist who used a magical camera to turn me from ogre to prince.
The WANA, DM, and WG2E teams. I won’t list all of your names (it’s hundreds of people!), but I want you all to know that I deeply appreciate all the support, tweets, promotions, words of encouragement, tolerance, comments, advice, and love. I hope I’m not embarrassing you with my overly emotional messages and emails (and blog posts). It would be pointless having all of these platforms if I couldn’t truly express my gratitude and love to you all. You could say that this was the inspiration I needed to create my own website so I would be able to connect with my fans, to promote my current novels, and to keep you up to date about any other books I have in the works. I wish I could have been pointed in the direction of these different Author websites before creating this website to do my research, so I could see what worked for them. That’s how you write a book you know, continuous research. I think this website has turned out pretty well, don’t you? But I never expected my debut novel to get this much love and attention. It was truly overwhelming. And if you think that’s the end of my emotional blog posts, you’re absolutely wrong. You should get used to it. There’s more on the way : )
Myndi Shafer, Debra Kristi, Diane Capri, Angela Orlowski-Peart, Zee Monodee, Liv Rancourt, C. C. Mackenzie, Liz Jasper, Juliana Haygert, Jennifer Lewis Oliver, Marcia Richard and Jess Witkins (the RedHots), Zoe Crook at Bookhi, Lindsay at The Indie Bookshelf, Barb at the Reading Cafe, DeeDee Scott at RG2E-thanks for inviting me for interviews, blog posts, and other fun stuff.
Family and friends: your love, patience, and understanding were essential. And thank you for beta-reading too : )
To Vickie Dold from Innovative Online Book Tours, for having organized a memorable Release Day Blog Tour.
Thanks to Jillian Dodd and Diane Capri, two very smart and successful authors who tirelessly give back to the writer community. I’ve learned so much from you both. Your generosity is only matched by your talent.
Rhonda Hopkins, for your unfaltering support to writers in general and to me in special. I still think my keyboard should have a shortcut for “Thanks, Rhonda!”
Christine Claire McKenzie, for your uniqueness and tough love.
And of course, a million thanks to all the folks who read the novel. You trusted me with a few hours of your life; I hope I entertained you for those hours. Thanks to those readers who also reviewed the book: writing a review is a dicey proposition, and I’m grateful that you did it.
What’s next for Wicked Sense
Wicked Sense has just reached a 1,000 “to-reads” on Goodreads! I’m celebrating with another giveaway.
I now have Kindlegraph (thanks, Marcia Richards!), so I can sign digital editions too! The paperbacks have arrived and are on Amazon. I’m writing the sequel.
This has been a wonderful life experience, and it’s because of all the people mentioned (and some not mentioned) above. If I’m certain of anything in this life, is that I forgot to thank some friends. Please forgive me if I did.
We are not alone. I’m truly thankful for that.
